The Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) EHS organization is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our team in Tukwila, WA supporting critical operations in the Puget Sound (Tukwila, Seattle, Kent, Renton).

In this role you will support our complex industrial stormwater management portfolio across six facilities, and have primary responsibility for our UST (Underground Storage Tank) and SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, Countermeasures) programs.   

Our BDS-Puget Sound Environmental Management team works collaboratively across subject areas (for example, air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, solid waste, industrial wastewater, spill prevention, and underground storage tanks) to ensure compliance and reduce regulatory risk. You will also work with talented environmental engineers supporting BDS operations across the U.S., and be part of our community of environmental engineers supporting Boeing’s Commercial Airplanes and Global Services businesses. You may provide occasional support to other Boeing operations in the local (Central Puget Sound) area.

Position Responsibilities

  • Industrial Stormwater Program
    • Support the stormwater management program, with primary responsibility for one or more sites (includes WA industrial stormwater general permit and construction stormwater permit activities).
    • Work with local, regional, and state environmental regulatory agencies
    • Support our ISO-14001 certified Environmental Management Systems (EMS), apply program processes and tools to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as Boeing policies.
    • Work with site operations, facilities management and other Boeing organizations to ensure permit compliance and manage regulatory risks
  • Tanks-Sumps-SPCC (Spill Prevention, Control, Countermeasure) Program
    • Primary responsibility for the SPCC program, ensuring that that plans are current and comply with regulatory requirements
    • Ensure that above- and underground-storage tanks and sumps at multiple sites are managed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate with business partners and vendors to support projects such as aboveground and underground tank installation and decommissioning.
    • Lead and support environmental audits and serve as an interface with regulatory agencies to support compliance obligations and follow-up actions.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS)
  • 3+ years of experience have with environmental compliance and environmental program management
  • Local travel (BDS Puget Sound sites) 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Industrial Stormwater Permit/Program
  • Experience with underground storage tanks or SPCC
  • Aerospace environmental compliance experience

Summary Pay Range: $99,450 - $134,550
