The Boeing Company is seeking a Systems Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join the Boeing Operations Center 777-X team in Seal Beach, California.

Position Overview:

The Boeing 777-9 is the lead variant of the 777X family, designed to deliver improved fuel efficiency, extended range, and enhanced passenger experience for long-haul commercial operations. A Systems Engineer represents the Boeing Company to airline customers throughout the world with the mission to enhance the working relationship between the Boeing Operations Center (BOC), Boeing Field Service (BFS), and customer Maintenance Operations Control Centers (MOCCs).  They also assist Operators with post-delivery regulatory actions applicable to their airplanes, assure and sustain product design, integrity, and safety for in-service airplanes, analyze equipment failures to determine root causes; participate in developing design, operational, and logistical changes to enhance safety and efficiency; and reduce costs while optimizing continuous operations. The selected candidate will have broad knowledge of Boeing Commercial Airplane systems (especially 777-300ER / 777-9 / 787) to support a 24/7 fast-paced environment, solving Urgent/AOG customer issues.  Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Systems Engineer (Experienced or Senior).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop airplane solutions that resolve Urgent/AOG systems problems.

  • Generates interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.

  • Develops solutions utilizing sound engineering logic, experience, and available published data.

  • Assesses system failures and develops solutions for continued safe operation of aircraft.

  • Conducts root cause analysis and develops corrective action to rectify problems.

  • Analyses reported problems with potential safety issues.

  • Provides troubleshooting assistance to customers via phone, email, or Boeing Communications System.

  • Communicates customer's perspective to other organizations.

  • Conducts research on product problems, including analyzing drawings, online data, past performance data, and other engineering resources.

  • Writes customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Ensures supplier and build partner compliance with Boeing standards.

  • Develops and provides technical briefings for management, customers, and engineering personnel.

  • Flight controls and actuation (including folding wingtips and redundant control systems)

  • Avionics and flight deck (software, displays, communication and navigation systems)

  • Systems integration (environmental control, electrical power, landing gear, fuel)

  • Operations support (maintenance procedures, reliability engineering, troubleshooting)

Schedule:

Willingness to work a non-standard schedule, which may include working “7days-on/7days-off”, holidays and weekends, and second or third shift hours to support the Boeing fleet operating in a 24/7/365 environment; a 7 day shift consist of working Fri-Thu for 7 days from either 2nd shift (12PM – 12AM) and/or 4th shift (12AM – 12PM) with the following 7 days off. This position is for 2nd shift (12PM – 12AM) and/or 4th shift (12AM – 12PM); for specialized skills a 4/10 schedule across all shifts would be an option.

Travel Requirement:

Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Seal Beach, California location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience troubleshooting multiple airplane systems (e.g. Avionics, Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulics).

  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally to support our customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience preparing and presenting technical content to customers, peers, mechanics, and executives

  • Experience establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with airlines

  • Knowledge of Boeing 7-Series and/or McDonnell Douglas aircraft experience

  • Level 4: 8+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay and Benefits:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range:

  • Experienced (Level 3): $119,850 - $162,150

  • Senior (Level 4): $146,200 - $197,800
