The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space, Intelligence, and Weapon Systems Division is seeking an Entry Level Spacecraft Command and Data Handling Network (C&DHN) Engineer for (Autonomous Navigation Systems) that will develop and help support avionics and C&DHN systems for Boeing satellite programs.

Typical assignments will include requirements definition and flowdown, systems design and analysis, systems integration, test, and verification. The engineer will be responsible for resolution of technical issues and ensuring hardware and software are flight worthy prior to delivery. They will work with senior management and technical experts across multiple disciplines including subsystem engineering, software architecture, software validation, Communications Security (COMSEC), Cybersecurity, electronic hardware testing, spacecraft level testing, system level fault detection & response, and end to end system engineering. This position is in El Segundo, CA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support development of optimal subsystem designs, performs requirements definition and flowdown

  • Help to create operational concepts and products, develops interface requirements, and perform verification and validation

  • Perform trade studies to meet program requirements.

  • Perform analyses to evaluate and optimize total system performance to meet customer operation requirements.

  • Resolves technical issues and ensuring the spacecraft and system are flight worthy prior to delivery.

  • Develop solutions with cross-functional teams to assure mission success and present those findings to customer and senior management

  • Support Designs trade studies to meet program requirements

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship 

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience in developing solutions to a wide range of complex technical problems, requiring ingenuity and innovation

  • Experience in a role that required strong communication skills, written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • Experience working in aerospace, defense, or similar high-tech industry

  • Experience working with COMSEC materials

  • Experience working with Network Protocols (i.e., CCSDS, CAN, 1553)

  • Experience working with a higher-level programming code (e.g. C, Matlab, Python, or similar)

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

$80,750-109,250
