The Opportunity

We are seeking a talented Aviation Field Service Representative to work as part of the Maintenance support team specialising in P-8A Poseidon Avionics and Mission systems. The role is based in Edinburgh, SA and supports both 11 and 12 SQN operations.

Responsibilities

  • Development of Maintenance solutions to meet capability requirements
  • Provide Platform Avionic SME advice to Maintenance and Engineering stakeholders in support of complex maintenance Aircraft fault resolution
  • Lead maintenance  investigations to improve practices and maintenance policies and instructions.
  • Provide support to ILM, DM and Operational maintenance teams in the planning and scheduling of activities to minimize risk to aircraft availability.
  • Act as a mentor for junior technicians and provide guidance and instruction on platform specific systems and general aviation maintenance practices.
  • Support the development and delivery of continuation training packages as they relate to a recent maintenance activity, event or change.
  • Establish communication channels in order to build trust and  influence stakeholders (internal and external to Boeing)
  • Utilise professional experience to identify risks and deliver  against task milestone dates & project schedules.
  • Achieving task outcomes absent  direct control of execution/transactional resources, that is operating in a matrix environment
  • Assist maintenance elements in the reporting of system availability, platform performance and other contract Key Performance Indicators.
  • Understand Unit operational orders and instructions to assist the in-service Support Organisation to plan an appropriate level of support.
  • Provide liaison at all levels between the Defence customer, ADF end user and the BDA Sustainment Program to assist with the ongoing evolution of the capability. 

Experience/Qualifications

  • Demonstrate understanding or knowledge of the Defence Aviation maintenance and Engineering regulatory framework.
  • Minimum 5  years of work experience within an operational or Deeper Aviation Maintenance organization.
  • Minimum 3 years work experience providing engineering and/or logistics support in an Australian Defence Force (ADF) military technical and logistics environments
  • A strong work ethic and a sense of urgency for completing work to agreed schedules
  • Ability to resolve complex problems requiring a high level of ingenuity and innovation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Basic level leadership skills and ability to work effectively within a group environment and with people across all organisational levels
  • Knowledge and understanding of P-8A Avionics Mission systems or extensive Boeing 737 knowledge and experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of the P-8A Program with a focus on Avionics and Missions systems integration in support of ADF capabilities (desirable)
  • Experience in integration of Communications and Electronic support products in a Defence environment (desirable)
  • Experience within Defence or complex engineering project environments (desirable)
  • Strong problem solving and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way.
