Meet Chandler

Chandler Frink has always been intrigued by how things are built. As an aircraft mechanic at our St. Louis production facility, her journey from high school apprentice to professional working on cutting-edge defense aircraft is a fantastic example of how ambition and passion can lead to a rewarding career.

Tell us about what you do

My role involves inspecting, testing, and repairing various components of the fighter jet. Essentially, it’s a bit like a car inspection. The jet is brought in, and we disassemble it to thoroughly inspect the components. If necessary, we order replacement parts or repair existing ones. Finally, we conduct functional tests to ensure that everything operates as intended.

What experience did you need for this role?

When I applied, I had some basic knowledge in technical and mechanical skills. I knew I had great attention to detail,was able to work within a team, and I was ready and willing to learn.

How has your career grown at Boeing?

In just four years, I have progressed to becoming an authorized mechanic, and I will soon obtain my turbine license. The culture at Boeing fosters growth and development, providing a supportive environment to enhance skills and advance professionally. For example, they supported me in obtaining an turbine license which has significantly contributed to my professional growth and ability to take on more responsibilities.
