Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 2500 people in the UK. We are responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK Defence customers including new capabilities like the E-7 AEW&C and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft, C4ISR Services, Support for the Chinook & Apache Fleets, Services and Training Services for synthetic and collective training domains. A New position has opened for an experienced “Simulation Support Engineering Manager” located at AAC Wattisham near Ipswich. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering operational management of the training centre containing 2 fixed based simulators, and various training devices including electronic classrooms and briefing / debriefing rooms. The candidate will also be responsible for the first line management of a team of 6 technicians and will be required to meet all performance availability requirements laid down by the customer to ensure the training equipment is available to meet the training need. The successful candidate will also be required to integrate and work with various customers and users

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees performing engineering activities within the Apache Academy centre and their 1 to 1 general performance.
  • Oversee maintenance of and upgrades to all training equipment within the Apache Academy centre
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  •  Acquire resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, Stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes and provide technical guidance to resolve engineering issues.
  •  Ensure safe operation of the equipment and a safe working environment.
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees.

Basic Requirements:

  • Previous experience in Managing or Leading a Flight Simulator and training equipment support team
  • Previous experience in Managing the Engineering required to maintain a flight training centre
  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work with a range of technical and non-technical internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to obtain UK SC

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of working with UK MOD.
  • Knowledge of security aspects of the UK MOD
