Why this role excites

  • Make an immediate operational impact by supporting an enduring sovereign combat capability that protects Australia's interests.

  • Work hands-on with a multi-disciplinary team across maintenance, systems engineering, supply and test activities.
  • Drive professional growth through targeted training, career pathways and high-readiness operational experience.

What you'll do

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of BDA employees and subcontractors delivering technical and logistics services to 1 Aviation Regiment (RAAF Base Townsville) and Army Aviation Training Centre.
  • Manage relationships with Defence stakeholders and external agencies to ensure mission alignment.
  • Oversee training, competency and regulatory compliance for the maintenance workforce in a Part 145 CoA environment.
  • Plan and control maintenance, from operational sorties to light-phase servicing and upgrades.
  • Maintain governance, manage risk assessments for new equipment, and ensure all personnel are authorized and qualified for aircraft maintenance tasks.

About you

  • Minimum 10 years' military or commercial aircraft maintenance experience.
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical or Avionics Engineering and/or Certificate IV in Aero Skills (Mechanical/Avionics) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DASR regulations, CoA exposition requirements and maintenance best practice.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
  • Safety and Lead Auditor, or Aviation Safety Officer qualifications — desirable.
  • Apache Type Maintenance Manager Course — CoA provided.
