The Boeing Commercial Airplanes organization is currently seeking Senior 787 Fleet Chief Office Project Engineer in Customer Support in Seal Beach, California.

This position is in a highly dynamic environment, requiring cross functional/cross business unit coordination and collaboration, along with ensuring clear definition and execution to fulfill the listed primary responsibilities below. The person in this role will support the Deputy Fleet Chiefs, Sr. Deputy Fleet Chief and Fleet Chief in leading and executing on fleet priorities. They will act as a spokesperson for the Fleet Chief Office to oversee and execute these tasks and bring back critical decisions/discussion and recommendations to the Fleet Chief and Sr. Deputy Fleet Chief. They will also provide viable solutions and ensure safe and economic operation of the 787 fleet. This role will require proactive communication internally and with customers, along with inspiring the team by championing forward-thinking and innovative solutions.

An ideal candidate will be highly motivated and forward thinking, possess technical/project management acumen and have the desire and leadership ability to adapt quickly and operate in a changing environment. You must be able to jump out of your comfort zone and use out of the box thinking and techniques to meet customer needs in a timely manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills with project management and integration experience.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Leads others and directs all phases of assigned cross-organizational or business unit projects demonstrating proficiency in all project management areas in accordance with accepted project management standards in the industry (e.g., PMI, Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI, and ISO standards)
  • Oversight, and management responsibility (including performance management & reporting) for a portfolio of small to medium size projects in support of organizational goals and objectives
  • Identifies key stakeholder project specific objectives and requirements
  • Ensures assigned individuals are executing the identified and assigned tasks and providing appropriate tracking and reporting per plan
  • Provides in-depth analysis of project culminating with lessons learned and historical reports for incorporation into future project plans
  • Provides assessment of team performance to appropriate management
  • Provides in depth analysis; identify lessons learned, provide historical reports to incorporate into future project plans
  • Build and maintain good relationships with internal/external customers and suppliers (e.g. Supplier Management, Warranty, Fleet Support Engineering, Design Engineering and Material Management) and associated senior leaders
  • Respond quickly to meet significant customer needs and resolve complex problems requiring ingenuity and creativity
  • Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues
  • Maintain complete awareness of fleet, industry and regulatory issues

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience
  • 5+ years of experience communicating to employees, customers, peers and all levels of leadership
  • 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience leading cross functional teams or projects
  • Experience developing presentations and providing briefings to senior and/ or executive level management
  • Experience working with Suppliers
  • Experience working with organizational leaders to develop & implement plans & objectives to meet requirements and create reports for management reviews & track performance to plan
  • Experience working in Customer Support
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time

Summary Pay Range: $146,200 - $197,800
