787 Airframe in Boeing Commercial Airplanes is hiring for a Mid-Level (Level 3) or Experienced (Level 4) Structures Technical Designer for our Wing, Wing Edges, or Empennage teams to work at our North Charleston, SC location. This is a great opportunity to work in the Commercial Airplanes South Carolina Design Center, as a Structures Technical Designer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains engineering product definition.

  • Prepares design layouts and modifies existing designs.

  • Develops engineering product definition.

  • Develops statements of work, including design requirements, cost and schedule estimates.

  • Coordinates and develops work transfer packages.

  • Contributes to the integration of product definition across internal and external business partners to provide a functional end-product.

  • Investigates and resolves moderately-complex manufacturing process, or engineering related issues.

  • Verifies accuracy of engineering data produced by others.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the North Charleston, SC location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Associates degree or higher

  • 3+ years of experience in the structural or aerospace industry

  • 3+ years of experience in creating, developing, and/or maintaining engineering processes

  • 3+ years of experience using CAD Tools

  • 1+ years of experience with composites design and processing

  • Experience performing investigations and data collection in support of root cause corrective action (RCCA) activities

  • Demonstrated autonomy while working with technical teams and projects

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Associates of Science or equivalent degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • (Experienced level) 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 9+ years of experience in the structural or aerospace industry

  • Lead experience in developing and maintaining engineering product definition.

  • Lead experience with design layout development.

  • Lead experience performing engineering product definition reviews.

  • Expertise using CATIA and Model Based Definition (MBD) for primary structure design.

  • Hands on experience with fabrication of metallic and composite structures.

  • Part 21 and Part 25 Code of Federal Regulations knowledge.

  • Demonstrated leadership while working with technical teams and projects.

  • Experience working in Product Development, Production, and Fleet phases of the Product Life Cycle.

Pay Range Summary:

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

  • Summary pay range for Experienced (Level 3): $68,850 – $93,150

  • Summary pay range for Senior level (Level 4): $81,600 – $110,400
