National Programs is a portfolio of classified programs within Boeing Space Mission Systems within Boeing Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems.  We are looking to hire a program Chief Engineer to support a program in this portfolio of programs. This position is based out of El Segundo, CA.

The program chief engineer will assure all technical aspects of a space program are executed properly including product definition, validation, software and systems engineering, design integration, test and evaluation, and certification for the Boeing team and all associated supplier work content.  The Program Chief Engineer will also develop multi-disciplined skills, model-based tools, and standardized processes to deliver engineering for Space products through the lifecycle of the programs.  The program chief engineers will also be direct reports to the National Programs Chief Engineer.

Position Responsibilities (lead a team executing these responsibilities):

  • ​Responsible for technical leadership, problem resolution, and engineering processes associated with executing program including systems level hardware design, subsystem production, factory assembly, integration, verification testing, on-orbit test, and sustainment

  • Partners closely with Site Leadership, Program Managers, Capability Directors, and IPT leads to maintain consistent design and project direction, develop policies, procedures, and guidelines

  • Assures the program is properly managing the technical baseline, Chair Engineering Review Boards (ERB), Risk, Issue, and Opportunity (RIO) boards

  • Assures the programs are properly executing Technical Readiness Reviews (TRR) and Failure Review Boards (FRB) to drive rapid design and issue closure.

  • Supports new business activities and leads engineering review for proposals.

  • Supports product and technology insertion roadmaps from Strategic Plan (LRBP) across the program in support of affordability and competitiveness

  • Partners closely with Program Manager and capability leads to enhance critical engineering skills and manage key personnel resources

  • Mentors and coaches, engineers, IPT leads, managers, and technical leads

  • Serves as senior technical interface to the customer and suppliers

  • Implements and enforces engineering functional excellence in people, processes, tools, and practices

  • Drives successful integration of advanced technologies into a complex system with First Time Quality (FTQ)

  • Implements Technical Independent Reviews (TIRs) and Non-Advocate Reviews (NARs) with approved personnel to ensure technical expertise across the enterprise is engaged as needed

  • Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams to execute complex, integrated programs.

  • Experience in leading RCCA, engineering change proposals, requirement verification, gated process completion and product sell off.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • ​Minimum 10 years of experience with systems or software engineering on space-based systems

  • Engineering management experience for all phases of a program life cycle from high development NRE through sustainment Experience with critical business and financial acumen including risk, issue, and opportunity management to drive performance.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams and large technical programs

  • Deep knowledge of industry standards, regulatory compliance, and certification processes relevant to the company’s products

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Summary pay range: $198,050 - $267,950
