The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Entry-Level Systems Engineer to join the P-8 Missions System Software Engineering team in Kent, Washington.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of contract proposals working directly with program leadership and the Government customer in interpreting requirements and working with teams to estimate new capabilities required for P-8 Mission Systems.

The P-8 Poseidon program is the premier Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) platform for the US Navy and several international partners. Recent contract awards are providing a steady stream of new work for the foreseeable future. The P-8 program continues to be a stable platform with a solid demand for future growth and opportunities as Boeing expands its customer base and tactical capabilities for the warfighter.

Candidates will belong to a systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, and program management, as well as software developers, software integration, and software test engineers.  This position will support both planning and scheduling of activities to develop capabilities for the operation of a complex real-time system.  As a member of our team, you’ll work to integrate across diverse cross-functional teams, and directly support program leadership, including the Mission System Software Leader.  This position works very closely with the senior leadership and the customer, requiring a professional and customer focused attitude. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to assist with analyses, design, development and verification of a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  • Assists with analyses to evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Assists with various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Assists with analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience with project management and self-managing projects

  • Experience facilitating meetings and presenting to senior leaders

  • Experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Configuration Management systems, Change Management, and PLM processes and Tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 4+ years of directly related work experience OR 8+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience with establishing budgets and estimates

  • Experience with project planning and project scheduling

  • Working knowledge of government contracts and proposals

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $79,050 - $106,950
