Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Systems Integration, Test and Readiness (SITR) System Test Division Manager

Why This is an Exciting Role:

The GMD SITR System Test Division Manager (DM) at Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) frequently interfaces with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and Boeing Program Leadership Team and MDA customers, while managing the execution, reporting, and evaluation of System Level Cyber, Ground, and Flight Tests. The SITR System Test DM manages, develops, and motivates employees and first-level managers performing activities supporting system test and engineering. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.  Additional responsibilities include oversight of test support software/hardware development and system test lab infrastructure management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering leadership and technical oversight to multiple engineering teams (including remote locations & facilities throughout the United States) supporting GMD System Test & Engineering.
  • Management of technical/purchased services providers & major suppliers.
  • Oversee functional performance to plan while assessing efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned in order to enable continuously improved performance of engineering teams.
  • Openly communicate/discuss project & program objectives and deliverables ensuring qualified resources are deployed across multiple operational sites throughout the United States.
  • Communicate and interact with other Boeing organizations, suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective test integration and execution of test plans.
  • Leads and manages a team of first line leaders and individual contributors. Works with other Managers and Program Managers to ensure the purpose and importance of the teams are clarified. Clarifies roles and responsibilities of team members; helps ensure that necessary steering, review, or support functions are in place.
  • Adheres to the team's expectations and guidelines; fulfills team responsibilities; demonstrates personal commitment to the team.
  • Builds organizational talent. Assesses the key strengths and development opportunities of the team; consistently and proactively identifies developmental assignments; consistently and proactively matches assignments with individual developmental opportunities. Supports internal mobility and talent placement for division employees. Also responsible for disciplinary reviews.
  • Serves as a role model in supporting and advocating deserving individuals; guides the development of appropriate recognition, rewards, and resources for strong performers; when necessary, defends strong performers, even in the face of challenges; collaborates with other senior managers in establishing organizational systems to encourage talented individuals to remain within the organization; addresses individuals' needs for flexibility within the organizational structure; provides a clear career path for talented individuals that provides challenge and career satisfaction.

Experience and Qualifications:

To be eligible for this demanding position, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the following experience and qualifications:  

Required Education and Years of Experience:

  • Typical education and experience described in our standard level guides are aligned to the type and number of years of experience/education required to perform the job in industry. For management positions, our industry sources do not specify typical experience/education. For reference you may review the non-management level guide most relevant to the work performed

Required Qualifications: ​

  • Active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer
    science, mathematics or physics, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Willing & able to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally
  • Experience leading or managing cross-functional or cross-organizational teams within engineering and/or test

Desired Qualifications: ​

  • 3+ years of experience with the Missile Defense System, Ground-based Midcourse Defense program and/or the Missile Defense Agency
  • 3+ years of experience in planning and conducting system level lab, ground, or flight testing
  • Ability to investigate, define, and resolve complex issues using a methodical approach to issue definition and resolution
  • Experience analyzing data and making recommendations to take appropriate actions based on findings or doing business case analysis (ie. ROI, Cost/Benefit)

Telework/Remote Availability: 100% on-site.

Summary Pay Range:

Please note that the information shown below is a general guideline only. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

$140,000 - $220,000
