The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Test & Verification Engineer (Senior) to support the Denali Software team located in Herndon, VA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) software engineering organization.

The candidate will collaboratively work with a team of systems engineers, software engineers, and other test engineers to:

  • Drive end-to-end test and verification of software products, championing quality, reliability, and real-world functionality from concept to delivery
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to uncover and sharpen software requirements, define test objectives, and craft testing strategies that boost product testability and confidence.
  • Architect compelling test plans, cases, and scenarios that rigorously validate requirements and push software limits to ensure excellence.
  • Guide the setup and tuning of realistic test environments, to include hardware, software, and network, so teams can replicate operational behaviors and catch issues early.
  • Lead hands-on test execution to validate functionality, performance and safety; discover, prioritize, and drive resolution of defects, edge cases, and vulnerabilities
  • Translate test findings into clear, actionable feedback that informs design improvements and accelerates defect remediation.
  • Own the creation and maintenance of test artifacts, procedures, metrics, and datasets. Ensure compliance with standards while enabling repeatable, measurable testing.
  • Orchestrate test and verification efforts across multifunctional teams, using strong project leadership to deliver reliable software on schedule.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads the design, development, and completion of test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality.
  • Partners with stakeholders and leads the review and identification of software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability.
  • Leads the design of test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications.
  • Advises on the set up and configuration of test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments.
  • Leads executing test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities found during testing processes.
  • Advises on test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities.
  • Leads creating, documenting, and maintaining test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards.
  • Leads software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • This role requires an active US TS/SCI Security Clearance
  • 5+ years of software test and verification experience, with experience as a lead or technical lead role
  • 5+ years of experience in test procedure development, test execution, and test reporting?
  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing software test environments, including hardware, software, and network configuration to replicate production environments?

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 9+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 13+ years of directly related work experience OR 17+ years of related, relevant experience
  • 5+ years of software test and verification experience with prior lead-level responsibilities in complex systems
  • Strong data-analysis skills (log analytics, test coverage) and experience with formal verification and static analysis tools
  • Proficiency with test automation frameworks, scripting, and CI/CD integration
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and leadership skills for coordinating multifunctional teams and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience authoring test strategies, test plans, test cases, test reports, and verification artifacts for complex software systems
  • Strong hands-on skills in test execution, defect triage, root-cause analysis, and driving defect resolution

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range/Experienced: $143,100 - $174,900
