Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for an Upholsterer A, to join our Fabrication team in Everett, Washington.

As an Upholsterer A, you will be a key contributor to the maintenance and repair of aircraft upholstery, ensuring that all components meet the highest quality and safety standards. Your role will involve executing repairs on various upholstery types, utilizing technical documents and specifications to guide your work. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify materials and tools needed for repairs while also ensuring that all work is completed efficiently and accurately. Your attention to detail and commitment to excellence will be essential in providing emergent support for aircraft operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Execute repair work on aircraft upholstery of all types, focusing on damaged blankets and shop defects, as well as supporting SOS installations for emergent on-aircraft assistance.

  • Research and identify necessary materials, tools, and responses required for effective repairs.

  • Accurately locate points, parts, and holes using marked or known station lines or index points.

  • Derive precise measurements and relevant information from specifications and other documentation sources.

  • Verify completed work against established quality specifications to ensure compliance.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and rework components on the aircraft as needed to repair blankets.

  • Utilize a variety of technical documents, including prints, schematic drawings, and work orders, to guide repair processes.

  • Perform tasks without the need for jigs, fixtures, or tooling when necessary.

  • Communicate job status and completion updates effectively to the factory team.

  • Prepare kits of materials, standards, and other components to support the manufacturing build process, ensuring they are free of visible defects.

  • Operate various information systems to track parts, identify work priorities, and manage sequencing, including printing necessary plots.

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Tooling, Production, Planning, and other departments to resolve assembly challenges.

  • Investigate and rework discrepancies related to the installation of blankets and safety pads, ensuring proper fit of insulation blankets.

  • Utilize visual controls and manufacturing load control processes to determine the plan and sequence of work effectively.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner, maintaining compliance with safety standards.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience working with detailed work instructions or reading and interpreting blueprints and drawings

  • 1 + year experience operating computing equipment to access job information (e.g., drawings, specifications and other online information systems)

  • 1+ years of sewing experience

  • 1+ years of experience using basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

Preferred Qualifications

1+ year of experience in aircraft manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes and procedures

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Union Representation Statement:

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Shift Work Statement:

This role is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.

Pay: $24.32/hour, with potential to earn up to $53.30/hour in accordance with the terms of the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
