Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) System Safety and Environmental Engineering Team is seeking a new System Safety Engineer to join our collaborative environment, which is dedicated to ensuring the safety of complex systems. 

As a BDUK System Safety Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting our sustainment programmes for UK defence, applying rigorous safety engineering tasks to Boeing products and services that are critical to our national security. This role is for a detail-oriented professional who excels at developing robust safety arguments and thrives on technical challenges.

In this role, you will:

  • Utilise industry-leading tools and techniques for system safety and hazard analysis to define safety requirements that meet demanding regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to manage safety throughout the product and service lifecycle.

  • Develop robust safety arguments and draft safety cases for assurance and certification activities using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).

PLEASE NOTE: The successful candidate will be expected to undergo a SECURITY CHECK/CLEARANCE.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • A background in a safety-critical and regulated environment (e.g., aerospace, defence, rail, automotive).

  • Solid knowledge of industry standards (e.g., Def Stan 00-056, MIL-STD-882E).

  • Proven experience with safety assessment techniques such as Fault Tree Analysis and Bowtie analysis.

  • Demonstrable experience applying safety and risk engineering processes (e.g., FHA, SSA, CCA).

  • Strong technical communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or significant professional experience.

  • UK National status is required, and candidates must be eligible for SC clearance.

The position offers flexible working options and may require occasional UK or international travel.
