Spirit Aerosystems, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Plant Engineer to support all programs within the Wichita, KS division. Disciplines needed include Mechanical, Structural, and Electrical. The successful candidate in this role will have a cooperative attitude and a history of working through complex issues during design and construction. Our facility offers a wide variety of projects to provide interesting and diverse work assignments.

Key Accountabilities:

· Typical projects require initiating procurement of outside design firm services; providing them with equipment vendor requirements, criteria and standards; leading and guiding firms during design; ensuring that the completed designs will meet the needs of production, maintenance, EH&S, and other impacted internal groups; review and issue of construction documents; supporting the construction phase by field visits, responding to requests for information, examining submittals and test reports for compliance; and project completion including punch lists and record documents.

· Evaluation of existing utilities or structures to accommodate increased needs.

· Be an advocate for the company’s best interests by making decisions that balance initial construction costs with long term reliability and suitability.

· Assist design scope development and estimating by translating vendor or building requirements into criteria for construction.

· Apply knowledge of regulatory codes such as OSHA, IBC, IMC, and NFPA, as relevant to specific discipline.

· Support on-site activity in support of design, maintenance, and during construction.

Required:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET Accredited institution

· Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work in a multiple discipline engineering organization

· CAD proficiency, AutoCAD preferred

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

· Professional Engineer License

· 10+ years engineering design experience

· Proficient in MS programs such as Word, Project, Excel, and Access

· Previous industrial Plant Engineering/Facilities experience

· Basic knowledge of other disciplines including Architectural, and Fire Protection
