BR&T is looking for a Manufacturing Research and Development Engineer (Associate Level) to support the Boeing Test & Evaluation and Boeing Defense Systems programs in the Puget Sound area with focus on product development/testing and sustained airplane program manufacturing processes.

We are seeking an Associate Level engineer to work at the Seattle, Washington location on technology development projects in support of production and safety initiatives. Current projects include support to new product development testing and safety/ergonomic production aids. The tasks performed by our engineers primarily involve process design, mechanical design, assembling and testing of prototype hardware/systems. Some electrical design and programming controls also may be required. Additional projects utilize 3D printing to quickly design/build prototype shop aides and tools.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day factory operations with design and fabrication of unique, one-off tooling and hardware solutions
  • Support coordination efforts to replicate solutions and further enable safe and high-quality builds
  • Perform mechanical design and analysis using tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, etc.
  • Fabricate technical solutions using additive manufacturing and basic machine shop equipment, while using Design for Manufacture principles to coordinate more complex fabrication efforts
  • Conduct research and implementation of the latest technologies in the testing and production of commercial derivative airplanes
  • Work closely with factory mechanics, safety focals, and various engineering functions such as manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and industrial engineering to improve general fabrication/assembly methods and processes

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Seattle location. Self-transport between buildings in Seattle corridor is required.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with mechanical design using CATIA or Solidworks and do FEA analysis
  • Experience with 3D printing; design and fabrication of shop aids, tools and prototypes
  • Experience with machining tools and equipment

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level 2)

Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Level 2: $82,450-$111,550
