Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Program Manager (LevelM) to join NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) Program in Kennedy Space Center, Florida.

SLS is key to returning the United States to the Moon and sending the first astronauts on to Mars. With the addition of the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS), the SLS will be the world's most powerful rocket built to carry astronauts and cargo farther and faster than any rocket in history.

This position will be responsible for leading the Launch Integrated Product Team (IPT) for SLS Core Stage (CS), Interim Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (ICPS) and Exploration Upper Stage (EUS).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages employees and mid-level managers performing business management activities in the area of Program Management
  • Develops and executes integrated organizational plans, policies and procedures and guides the development of business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Acquires resources for organizational activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal customers, external customers, co-workers and peers
  • Achieves desired outcomes on projects, on-time and within budget
  • Defines the project, designs and plans the project, and manages the project team
  • Controls and delivers project deliverables, project accounting and appraisal, and optimize the contribution of the people involved
  • Executes Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and its application
  • Executes the methods and processes associated with risk management (including Technology Readiness Assessments), opportunity management, and issues management
  • Identifies and/or solicits potential risks, opportunities and issues across multiple disciplines; manages design constraints (technical, cost & schedule) sufficiently to validate/guide other groups' risk mitigation plans, opportunity realization plans, and issue resolution plans; helps select/recommend the best plan for mitigating risks, realizing opportunities, and resolving issues; and establishes appropriate performance tracking metrics to track risks, opportunities, and issues burndown over time
  • Implements schedule management principles and practices
  • Maintains an understanding of the competitive business environment as well as an awareness of economic and political trends that impact the organization's global strategy

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a clearance for access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • More than 5 years of experience in a leadership role (i.e., manager, project manager, team lead, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • More than 3 years of experience in program management
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Experience working with Safety Management Systems
  • Experience working on NASA Programs
  • Experience working on Space Launch Systems

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $180,200 - $243,800
