BCA Engineering – Customer Support is seeking a Experienced Retrofit Engineer (Level 3) to join a team where you will develop aircraft retrofit plans for all Boeing airplane models for Structures.The primary airplane model that you will be working on is the 787, although you may be required to work on additional airplane models as needed. This position is based in Seal Beach, CA.

You will need to be able to:

  • Research, analyze and interpret engineering data to develop and evaluate retrofit product configurations.

  • Develop and define customer retrofit requirements.

  • Integrate data from configuration management sources.

  • Create retrofit product designs.

  • Develop processes, test and validate retrofit/repair installations to ensure compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Verify retrofit design compliance with customer/regulatory requirements to enable approval.

  • Analyze customer technical queries and provide retrofit solutions.

  • Work under general direction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage and status aircraft retrofit plan at project level

  • Apply extensive knowledge of customer retrofit requirement to develop improved solution that is tailored for aircraft customers

  • Support various program leadership, change process and customer meetings to influence retrofit decision

  • Make use of and applies extensive knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, software and/or systems

  • Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate retrofit solution and able to influence change as needed

  • Develop, review and/or approve Service Bulletin, Information Notice, and Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC)

  • Provide response to customer service request related to Service Bulletin

  • Occasionally travel to Airline Maintenance Facility to support retrofit work in short notice

  • Willing to stay late or work on weekend occasionally to support Retrofit Work and/or Airline Reported Issues

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in an aerospace industry.

  • Experience working with FAA and foreign regulatory agencies’ procedures and regulations.

  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance practices and regulations

  • Have or have held an Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) License

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range:

  • Experienced (Level 3): $102,000 - $138,000
