The opportunity

We are seeking a tertiary qualifiedSenior Aerospace Engineer (Mechanical / Structures). If you are looking to join an exciting and dynamic team that provides sustainment engineering support to the EC-135 Helicopter fleet to achieve the mission of training pilots, aircrew and aviation warfare officers for the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army, we have a full-time employment opportunity available.

The position is located in Nowra, on the beautiful South Coast of NSW.

To be considered for the role you will be:

  • Working in a collaborative multi-disciplined team environment to support the continuing airworthiness of the HATS EC-135 helicopter fleet,
  • Provide Engineering support for structures and mechanical of the EC-135 T3H fleet in conjunction with the Army customer,
  • Develop and maintain the aircraft Reliability Program,
  • Work with customers to develop and document system requirements,
  • Analyse and translate requirements into system architecture, interface specifications, Structural analysis and equipment installation design,
  • Review, analyse and implement OEM and Regulator instructions for implementation on the EC-135 fleet, with consideration given to operational and functional requirements,
  • Exercise Engineering Authority and delegations, and
  • Work as a Technical Lead within the team, guiding and mentoring junior engineers,

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A Bachelor Engineering qualification in either Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical or a related tertiary Engineering degree qualification satisfying the requirements for membership with Engineers Australia (MIEAust),
  • Previous experience in aviation engineering activities including design development, engineering investigations and issuance of authorised documentation relating to aircraft structure, mechanical and subsystem designs,
  • Previous experience in developing engineering artefacts within a regulated aviation environment such as, the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment or similar (CASA, FAA, EASA, etc.), and
  • Experience working in a Navy or Army aviation environment is highly desirable.
