At Boeing South Carolina, our people are the foundation of everything we build. As we continue to increase production, expand our workforce, and prepare for future growth, we are seeking an experienced and influential leader to serve as our Production Equipment Maintenance Senior Manager (Level L) in North Charleston, South Carolina.

This Statement of Work includes responsibility for our Orangeburg, SC, North Charleston - Airport Campus, North Charleston - North Sites (IRC, BR&T and 737 Propulsion), and San Antonio, Texas sites. Occasional travel is required to these sites.

This role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all Production Equipment Maintenance activities supporting the 787 Program. You will lead a multi-faceted organization responsible for equipment reliability, maintenance excellence, workforce development, safety performance, and operational readiness. Partnering closely with Production, Engineering, and Executive Leadership, this leader will ensure the stability, availability, and continuous improvement of critical production systems that enable delivery commitments and future rate growth.

The ideal candidate will be a visible and trusted leader who can balance long-term strategy with day-to-day operational execution. Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence

  • Lead all aspects of Production Equipment Maintenance operations supporting production rate and delivery commitments

  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies focused on equipment reliability, availability, and lifecycle management

  • Establish department objectives aligned with business priorities, operational performance, and safety goals

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing lean principles, root cause analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance practices

Team Leadership & Workforce Development

  • Lead and develop first-level managers and maintenance professionals across multiple shifts and disciplines

  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, engagement, and operational excellence

  • Build succession plans and talent development strategies to ensure organizational capability and leadership pipeline strength

  • Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, and workforce planning

Reliability & Asset Management

  • Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for critical production equipment

  • Ensure equipment reliability metrics are monitored and action plans are implemented to address performance gaps

  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to improve asset performance and reduce downtime

  • Utilize maintenance management systems to drive planning, scheduling, and execution effectiveness

Business & Financial Management

  • Manage operating budgets, capital investments, and resource allocation to support business objectives

  • Evaluate equipment replacement, modernization, and investment strategies

  • Lead supplier relationships and contract service providers to ensure performance, compliance, and value

  • Support make-versus-buy decisions and long-range maintenance planning

Stakeholder Engagement & Executive Communication

  • Serve as the primary maintenance leader interfacing with production leadership, engineering, quality, and executive teams

  • Communicate operational performance, risks, and mitigation strategies to senior leadership

  • Build strong partnerships across functions to support production stability and business objectives

  • Lead cross-functional efforts during critical equipment outages and recovery activities

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience leading production equipment engineering or maintenance functions/teams

  • 5+ years of experience managing projects, programs, or operational initiatives

  • Experience developing and executing maintenance, reliability, or operational improvement strategies

  • Experience influencing stakeholders and collaborating across multiple functions

  • Ability to support off-shift operations based on business needs

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies

  • 5+ years of experience with predictive maintenance, reliability engineering, and asset management practices

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or large-scale industrial operations

  • 5+ years of experience leading organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Experience with Maximo CMMS or similar maintenance management systems

  • Executive communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $146,200 - $197,800
