The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking an Associate or ExperiencedEquipment & Tool Designer (Tool Liaison & Design) located in Mesa, AZ

Position Responsibilities

  • Researches and builds knowledge of Boeing and engineering design principles in order to develop solutions to product/process issues for production or simple technical in-service issues. 

  • Assists with analyses, root cause analysis and drafting dispositions for tooling design non-conformances. 

  • Assists system owner in preparation of technical communications. 

  • Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety. 

  • Participates in Material Review Boards and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). 

  • Checks designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.  

  • Establishes and validates spares requirements 

  • Oversees the development and documentation of equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and user training.  

  • Provides technical direction to support engineering changes and discrepancy resolution. 

  • Assists with the design of interim structural repairs to restore damaged structure to original design strength capability. 

  • Assesses and makes recommendation for disposition of equipment and tooling.  

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment.

  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • (Level 2) Work-related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 1+ year of work-related experience with an Associate’s degree OR 3+ years of work-related experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • (Level 3) 1+ year of work-related experience with a Bachelor’s degree OR 3+ year of work-related experience with an Associate’s degree OR 5+ years of work-related experience

  • Experience in a manufacturing or manufacturing support environment

  • Have good communication and cross-group collaboration skills

  • Hands on problem solving skills

Typical Education & Experience:

Level 2: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).

Level 3: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range:

Level 2: $52,700 - $71,300

Level 3: $63,750 - $86,250
