Boeing Global Services (BGS) Commercial Modifications, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer, located in Long Beach, CA.

As a provider of cutting-edge aircraft retrofit solutions and to continue providing exceptional customer service and technical expertise, Boeing Global Services (BGS) Commercial Modifications is expanding and has created this newly established role within the BGS Customer Engineering structure.

We are seeking a talented individual who will act as a technical expert for all connectivity & avionics systems across all Boeing aircraft models. The connectivity/avionics configurator role is dynamic and will involve coordination with multiple Boeing teams across engineering and program management to gain an in-depth understanding of any connectivity/avionics system and be able to effectively convey information to Customer Engineers, Sales, and/or Customers. The ideal candidate will have experience with aircraft modifications, have deep knowledge of connectivity and avionics systems and excel at distilling highly technical information into clear, concise and visually compelling materials that effectively support selling BGS connectivity and avionic modification solutions.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Engage with BCA and BGS Engineering and Program Management teams to understand their approach regarding new connectivity/avionic systems.
  • Maintain expert level knowledge and serve as the subject matter expert (SME) on all current and legacy connectivity and avionics systems across all Boeing aircraft models.
  • Be aware of and understand upcoming country specific mandated requirements related to new avionic and connectivity systems.
  • Create high quality summaries, documentation, artifacts, etc. detailing information about any particular systems. This includes explaining system functionality, outlining aircraft alterations resulting from modifications (or retrofits), and comparing the system to similar alternatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Project Management, Sales and Marketing to ensure accuracy and alignment of all technical materials.
  • Support aircraft configuration decisions by providing technical recommendations tailored to customers routes, fleet strategy, business requirements or alignment with new aircraft purchases.
  • Analyze airline fleet configurations, provide technical expertise and guide customers in selecting the most suitable retrofit modifications based on their specific aircraft configurations and operation requirements.
  • Participate in customer meetings and technical reviews as the subject matter expert (SME).
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 5+ years’ experience of in-depth knowledge of Boeing connectivity and avionics systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with an FAA STC/EASA Part 21 design organization or a solid background in aviation engineering with an understanding of aircraft retrofit modifications.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, demonstrating exceptional communications skills, relationship-building abilities and the capacity to understand and address the customer needs effectively.
  • Experience working with airline and/or leasing organizations.
  • Good communication, project management and organizational skills.
  • Skill and ability to: collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $146,200 - $197,800
