Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an Experienced and LeadLevel Manufacturing Engineer to join the Supply Chain Engineering team in Long Beach, CA or are open to considering candidates for placement in Dallas, TX.

Boeing Global Services is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with a focus on part obsolescence to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing and mitigating the impacts of part obsolescence on our production systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Position Responsibilities:

As a Manufacturing Engineer focusing on part obsolescence, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Proactively Identify Obsolescence Risks: Conduct reviews of e-ELR and i-ELR submissions in collaboration with the BGS Procurement Agent (PA) team and suppliers, gathering sufficient information for Engineering Lifecycle Review (ELR) submissions to support Design Engineering (DE) review and disposition.
  • Assess and Forecast Obsolete Parts Demand: Evaluate and identify demands for obsolete parts, forecasting future needs to prioritize and coordinate urgency with Manufacturing Engineering (ME) and DE.
  • Analyze Engineering Drawings and Impact: Review and analyze engineering drawings to identify potential impacts on next-higher assembly part numbers (P/Ns) and assess the implications for impacted P/Ns on BGS-C, BDI, BDSI, BGS Mods/BCF, and subsidiaries (e.g., Encore Interiors), if applicable.
  • Identify and Validate Alternatives: Identify approved alternative parts or suppliers, validating their compatibility and performance to ensure continuity in production.
  • Evaluate Chemicals and Materials: Assess chemicals and materials (e.g., BMS) used in Boeing product design through drawing databases (e.g., PSDS) and applicable Boeing Aircraft Company (BAC) standards.
  • Collaborate on Obsolescence Risk Review: Work with Supplier Management Risk Management & Internal Governance and BGS Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) on Obsolescence Risk Review to mitigate potential impacts.
  • Analyze Demand Impact Trends: Review impact trends based on the obsolescence timeline and work with the Demand/Planning Team to analyze demand and understand how obsolescence would impact BGS. If identified as likely and high demand impact, work with the BGS PA to request i-ELR or e-ELR submissions and coordinate with BGS DE on obsolescence items.
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics.
  • Ability to collaborate with suppliers, all Boeing Programs, manufacturing teams and other supporting stakeholders.
  • Ability to present to senior and executive leadership.
  • 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 4 + years’ experience in Production Configuration Management.
  • 4 + years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.
  • 4 + years’ experience working with multi-functional teams/organizations.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes: SCN, NOC, CSDT, ELR, PRA/RCR.
  • Familiarity with chemical/material regulatory impacts (CMRM), material specifications, and compliance.
  • Experience with the following software PDM, CAPP, REDARS-EID, IVT, WIRS, EWITS, BWS-CM, CDS, EWIRE, E-PLAN, VELOCITY, ENOVIA,  EWIRE, Equipment Manager.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Experienced-Level Summary Pay Range: $96,050 - $129,950
