Boeing Global Services is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Lead or Senior Level Digital Connectivity System Design Engineer Architect to join the Commercial Modifications Team in Long Beach, CA.

This role supports the design, qualification, and certification of network systems and digital cabin solutions. Candidates should have a background in airplane network and connectivity systems.

The position will report to the Cabin Products Engineering Manager and will encompass working with global engineering teams, across multiple time-zones (Bangalore - India, and Hamburg - Germany), to oversee the technical direction of the project, ensuring all engineering activities align with the program’s objectives and regulatory requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team in design, development, and integration of hardware and software products, including:
  • Requirements definition based on program/product management input, including evaluation of operational use cases.
  • System, hardware and software designs definition, and interface specifications, based on the requirements.
  • Leading test/validation to demonstrate that the system design meets the requirements.
  • Support of lab and Ground/Flight Test evaluation of the system (including lab setup).
  • Ensuring system integration and compliance with regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure successful integration/compliance of the components.
  • Lead the system/product certification effort.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with customers, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide engineering guidance.
  • Support development of project schedule, budget and resource plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including other engineering teams, product management, marketing, supply chain, external suppliers, etc.
  • Establish and maintain engineering processes, standards, and best practices to ensure product quality and performance.
  • Work with product management to drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 9+ years' experience developing and qualifying new aircraft cabin system products, including experience as a lead engineer.
  • 2 years’ experience with Boeing commercial aircraft.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years' experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience  (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.).
  • Experience with airborne hardware and software (preference to SW focus), specifically:
    • Embedded Systems engineering (SW & HW)
    • Other software engineering, including experience with:
      • Custom-built Linux-based systems
      • Scalable cloud-hosted systems
      • DevOps
      • Machine learning
    • Front-end design
  • Recent experience completing qualification of components to Boeing D6, DO-160, and DO-178 requirements.
  • Experience developing and testing per component reliability requirements.
  • Experience with Boeing’s engineering processes and systems.
  • Experience working with the Agile Development process.
  • Experience working with a global team outside of traditional hours.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Lead-Level Summary Pay Range: $128,350 – $173,650

Senior-Level Summary Pay Range: $153,850 – $208,150
