Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is looking for Associate or ExperiencedTest and Evaluation Lab Technicians (Level 2 or 3) to join our team at Starfire Optical Range in Kirtland AFB, New Mexico supporting the Air Force Research Lab in their advancement of Space Domain Awareness capabilities using ground-based telescopes. 

Starfire Optical Range is a world class research facility with recognized achievements in adaptive optics, enabled by the quality, enthusiasm, and dedication of our entire team. Our team consists of engineers and technicians in all disciplines required to plan, design, integrate, and test complex optical, electronic, laser systems to achieve research objectives.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate and experienced technicians.

Position Responsibilities:   

  • Plans, conducts and documents tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies.

  • Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies.

  • Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities.

  • Conducts system test preparations by coordinating system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown.

  • Conducts tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness reviews.

  • Troubleshoots and resolves laboratory and test-related problems.

  • Coordinates test laboratory activities and maintenance and repairs.

  • Coaches and trains others.

  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience in engineering technician, construction or facilities maintenance disciplines

  • 1+ years of experience working with powered hand tools or equipment

  • Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience 

  • Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance

  • 3+ years of experience operating complex computer-based analysis or control systems

  • Experience with high power lasers

  • Experience with optical alignment techniques

  • Experience with electronics/electrical systems

  • Experience with mechanical systems

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Associate (Level 2) Summary pay range: $47,600 - $64,400

Experienced (Level 3) Summary pay range: $55,250 - $74,750
