Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an AssociateElectrical & Analysis Engineer to support the Avionics Systems Engineering Integration & Test group under the Avionics and Software Integrated Product Team of the Space Launch System (SLS) Program in Huntsville, AL.

NASA’s SLS rocket is one of the most powerful rockets in the world.  It offers unprecedented capabilities related to payload mass, volume, and energy to enable deep space crewed and uncrewed exploration.  SLS is designed to be flexible and evolvable to open new opportunities for crewed deep space missions.  We support the Exploration Upper Stage (EUS), SLS's first evolution of design improvements to enhance those capabilities as part of the Block 1B SLS Architecture.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply standard engineering practices to plan and implement Design, Integration, and Verification activities for the Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Subsystem.
  • Develop robust methods to evaluate avionics GNC system performance using modeling, scripting, and simulation tools to demonstrate compliance with requirements across the range of formal verification methodologies.
  • Plan and observe demonstrations and review verification data from teammate and supplier product verification closure packages.
  • Review and support test procedures and apply real-time problem resolution of issues encountered during testing, operation, and flight.
  • Manage large data sets.  Perform serial and data bus timing analysis and modeling.
  • Collaborate with component engineers, test and operations engineers, customer technical staff, suppliers, and SLS teammates to ensure appropriate data is gathered to support verification closure activities.
  • Perform system-level analysis and verification.  Develop models for use in formal analysis and verification of requirements across the range of formal verification methodologies and problem resolution involving Artemis Command and Telemetry interface definitions which enable all data communication across the architecture of the Space Launch System.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.  "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of work experience in an engineering position (design, analysis, product support, ...).
  • Experience programming with software development and analysis tools such as Python, C#, Groovy, Java, MATLAB, …
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time domestically.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Previous work experience in avionics with a preference for experience in space electronics; computer engineering; guidance, navigation and control (GNC); or communication systems.
  • Experience facilitating internal and external customer interfaces and requirements.
  • Experience troubleshooting defense or space computer platforms.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range: $79,900 – $108,100
