Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate Operations Specialist (Level 2) to join our Systems Engineering team in Herndon, Virginia.

The Space and Launch Team creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.

The Operations Specialist position will be a part of a high-performing team in a very dynamic environment. You will be trained and certified on a complex system. As a member of our team, you will have opportunities to train and develop in multiple positions in a real-time operations environment.  This position will support system assets and resources for a 24x7 operational center. This role will be required to obtain certifications needed to perform the duties of an Operations Specialist within 3 to 4 months of report date. This position works closely with the customer and requires a professional and customer focused attitude.

This position is for rotational shift in a 24x7 Operations team environment to include working weekends and holidays.

Position Responsibilities:   

  • Ability to work a shift in a 24x7 Operations team environment to include working weekends and holidays.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems following defined procedures.

  • Escalate issues as required.

  • Recognize and document system discrepancies.

  • Identify and propose opportunities for system improvement.

  • Coordinate, update and create necessary procedures & documentation.

  • Collaborate with other teams and individuals.

  • Willingness to complete positional and corporate training requirements.

  • Certification required – Combination of self-led reading, observation, and on the job training provided, resulting in a passing evaluation from designated trainer, evaluator & operations manager.

  • Adjust to changing priorities, multiple demands and crises.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail.

  • Participate in the development of engineering processes, methods and tools for use as a planner.

  • Understand and support customer needs and priorities.

  • Able to function in a high-stress operational environment.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Willing and able to work in a 24x7 operations and support process environment

  • Willingness to work a rotating shift to include weekends and holidays

  • Ability to complete a certification program (Specialized training provided (combination self-study and on-the-job (OTJ) training) in order to learn the necessary skills allowing you to obtain the necessary certifications required for this position)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience in space and satellite systems

  • Experience with Linux commands

  • Experience adjusting to changing priorities

  • Demonstrates strength in attention to detail

Pay and Benefits:

Summary pay range: $78,200 - $105,800
