Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Crater A to join our Materials Management & Tooling team in Everett, Washington.

Join our dedicated team as a Crater A, where you will set up and operate advanced box-making machines to create both standard and custom boxes from fiberboard materials. Your attention to detail will be essential as you monitor the flow of freight, troubleshoot any issues, and ensure that all materials are inspected for quality before packing. You will utilize a variety of hand and power tools to fabricate and assemble boxes, while also managing the labeling and documentation processes to maintain accurate records. Your proactive approach to handling hazardous materials and collaborating with internal teams will contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. Position Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate box-making machines to trim, crease, slot, cut, and fold fiberboard materials for standard and nonstandard boxes.

  • Use jigs, fixtures, and production aids to facilitate machine operations effectively.

  • Obtain work orders and prioritize jobs based on schedule and customer requirements.

  • Ensure the correct grinding wheels, tools, and fixtures are available and free from defects before use.

  • Monitor the flow of freight and ensure processes are completed properly, organizing and separating materials as needed.

  • Troubleshoot crating and shipping issues, developing plans to resolve discrepancies and notifying appropriate personnel.

  • Operate powered and non-powered hand tools, including saws and pneumatic tools, for box fabrication and assembly.

  • Perform inspections of materials and parts to verify quantities and check for visible damage before packing.

  • Prepare and label shipping containers, ensuring bar-code labels or identifiers are applied correctly.

  • Use computers to access necessary information, process paperwork, and maintain records.

  • Build and install internal components in wooden crates/boxes to stabilize and support parts according to engineering specifications.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in compliance with safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Compile reports on man-hours and material usage, submitting them to management as required.

  • Coordinate with internal organizations to facilitate the handling of parts and materials and resolve any issues.

  • Maintain personal certifications and communicate with supervisors or team leaders when assistance is needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs. to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with cutting tools and hand tools.

  • 3+ years of experience operating powered material handling equipment. 

  • 1+ years of experience in construction working on building systems in a commercial and industrial environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience working with hazardous materials.

  • Experience with Shipping & Receiving, along with material storage, record keeping and shop floor knowledge of material handling.

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $25.00 – $49.92
