The Role:

To lead the future of commercial aircraft modification within Boeing EASA Modifications, we are seeking an Electrical Design and Certification Engineer (Part 21J) to join our rapidly expanding, best-in-class team in Dublin.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in certifying large aircraft modifications for our global airline and lessor partners, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory and customer requirements as outlined in the company’s Design Organization Handbook (DOH).

This position is based in our Design Office in Dublin, Ireland, with expected travel to other international sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Electrical / Avionics Engineering Manager and the global engineering services team across multiple time zones to identify requirements and develop solutions for active and upcoming design projects.
  • Lead and contribute to design activities, ensuring compliance with design requirements and addressing certification and integration issues related to electrical and avionics equipment and systems changes as part of large aircraft modifications.
  • Oversee certification activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including on-wing test witnessing.
  • Compile and verify engineering documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness, including:
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Wire routing installation drawings and harness fabrication drawings
    • Service Bulletins and accomplishment instructions
    • Aircraft and component manual ICA supplements, including wiring diagram manuals, system schematic manuals, and EWIS assessments
  • Prepare and validate certification documents to demonstrate compliance with relevant electrical systems-related airworthiness requirements, including:
    • Electrical load analysis documents
    • Test plans and reports
    • Compliance Statements
    • System Safety, Equipment Qualification, and EWIS documents
    • Certification Programmes
  • Represent Boeing during customer milestone meetings support of active and upcoming projects. Provide on-site support to assist customers during the physical embodiment phase of the project.

This role will require occasional international travel to visit teammates, customers, and subcontractors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Avionics or Aerospace / Aeronautical Engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience within an EASA Design Organization or equivalent. Alternatively, ten years of relevant experience in the aviation industry.

Preferred Skills / Experience:

  • Current or recent employment within the aerospace industry, specifically with an EASA Part 21J Design Organization (or equivalent).
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements, including (E)TSO, CS-25, JAR-25, and FAR-25 requirements relevant to the electrical/avionics discipline.
  • Knowledge and experience in aircraft interior and/or avionics modifications
  • Experience with large and complex aircraft modification projects (or similar scope projects within the aviation industry).
  • Current or recent appointment as an EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) with terms of approval relevant to electrical, avionics, and/or software disciplines is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail and professional integrity.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple programs with varying requirements.
  • Strong prioritization skills and adaptability to changing situations/demands.
  • Effective collaboration with colleagues and customers, embodying the core values of honesty, integrity, and transparency.
  • Willingness to mentor and coach less experienced staff.
  • Experience navigating OEM data systems for specifications and standards.
