Role Overview:

Boeing Defence UK are seeking a dynamic and experienced PMO Lead team.

This role is pivotal in driving the success for our Programs within a SAFe Agile framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead the PMO team to achieve program and team objectives, ensuring effective prioritisation of work in a complex delivery environment aligned with SAFe Agile principles.
  • PMO Operations: Oversee the efficient execution of PMO tasks, ensuring coordination and integration of activities to support agile delivery.
  • Work Management: Manage the PMO backlog, prioritising and scheduling all PMO work in accordance with agile methodologies and team capacity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives for continuous improvement, providing support and constructive feedback to team members and stakeholders to enhance collaboration and performance.
  • Governance & Reporting: Ensure the delivery of PMO contractual obligations, including program governance and reporting, while adhering to SAFe Agile practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and transparency.
  • Customer Focus: Maintain a strong customer-centric approach within the PMO team, actively seeking and sharing information to address customer needs and expectations.
  • Problem Solving: Facilitate the resolution of complex issues by implementing appropriate policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring effective tools and systems are utilised.
  • Meeting Facilitation: Enable continuous improvement in the facilitation and administration of key project and program governance meetings, aligning with agile ceremonies.
  • Training & Mentorship: Train, coach, and mentor team members in agile practices and PMO responsibilities, fostering a culture of learning and growth.
  • Reporting & Controls: Establish and maintain effective reporting and governance controls that align with agile metrics and performance indicators.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of leadership, agile expertise, and stakeholder management skills to ensure the effective delivery of projects while meeting contractual obligations and enhancing team performance.

  • Experience: Proven experience leading a program office for large, complex IT programs/projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, preferably in the Defence sector.
  • Agile Expertise: Strong understanding of SAFe Agile methodologies and experience working in a Change Management Office with commercial awareness.
  • Reporting Skills: Solid experience in management reporting, including tracking plans, benefits, and RAIDO management within an agile context.
  • Certifications: Ideally holds recognised project management accreditation (e.g., P30, Prince2 Practitioner, PMO/PMP, APMP, and/or SAFe Agile) and a foundational understanding of ITIL methodology.
  • Skills: Exceptional planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously under time constraints.
  • Analytical Thinking: Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, ensuring effective processes and procedures are in place for PMO delivery.
  • Relationship Management: Strong ability to identify, build, and maintain relationships with team members, stakeholders, and cross-functional groups.
