The St. Louis Materials & Process Technology (M&PT) organization is seeking a Materials and Process Engineering Manager based out of Berkley, MO.

The successful candidate will manage a team of engineers responsible for supporting 777X and T-7 production. The team is made of 15-20 materials engineers from the following disciplines: composite fabrication, finishes/sealants, fastening systems and assembly processes, and metallurgy.

Primary manager responsibilities will be focused on engaging with program leadership and ensuring priorities are aligned, employee development, staffing, ensuring technical excellence, engaging with the programs on schedules and priorities, and championing process and material improvements that can be incorporated into the production system. Strong customer focus and project management skills are required as this team leader is involved with many different initiatives to improve first time quality, support airworthiness, and make the builds more efficient.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Staff, direct, and advise individuals to meet program requirements

  • Responsibility, authority, and accountability for day-to-day operations in coordination with Program Engineering and Operations management

  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.

  • Acquires resources for projects and processes.

  • Plans and manages overhead budgets, program budgets, schedules, and technical performance.

  • Provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.

  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.

  • Manage overhead & direct budgets

  • Manages, develops and motivates employees

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil/Structures Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree.

  • 2+ years’ experience leading or managing an engineering project or team.

  • Candidates must have demonstrated ability to collaborate cross functionally and treat colleagues and employees with respect in all situations, and a capability to manage competing priorities on a daily basis.

  • Must be able to effectively lead and coach a team with highly diverse technical skills.

  • Must be able to work effectively in an IPT organization, including application of engineering judgment to balance requirements, risks, and costs, and be able to negotiate effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with M&P processes, specifications and standards (including BCA, BDS, and industry).

  • Experience with material qualifications, process qualifications, and processor qualifications.

  • Fundamental knowledge of aerospace metals, composite processes, finishes, sealants, or fastening. 

  • Ability to read and interpret an aerospace drawing.

  • Experience working with aircraft Integrated Product Teams and Production Operations.

  • Experience related to one or more materials and processes disciplines (e.g., metals, composites, chemical processing, coatings, assembly).

  • Candidates must have familiarity with fabrication, assembly, and processing of parts and assemblies and qualifications of new materials, processes, parts and suppliers.

Typical summary pay range: $129,200- $174,800
