Boeing India has an immediate opening for Information Technology Manager - Infrastructure to Manage and integrate employee activities across Information Technologies including infrastructure design and administration, application analysis and design, information management, architecture, computing security, computing project support and/or process analysis. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages and provides developmental opportunities for employees

This role will be based out of Bangalore, India.

Position Responsibilities:

Summary of accountabilities is as follows, but not limited to:

  • Manages employees performing infrastructure operations and technical activities related to transitioning, monitoring and support of customer-facing, aviation-operations critical infrastructure. Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals. Acquires resources for infrastructure projects and processes and leads process automation and improvements.
  • Develops project or operational plans aligned with department's objectives. Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan. Reviews execution plans, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Develops workgroup, project or operational goals, objectives and related metrics to ensure alignment with Company vision/strategy. Measures progress, making adjustments as needed. Holds direct reports accountable for achieving goals. Achieves goals for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • This position will establish partnerships and engage with internal and external stakeholders, maintain relationships/partnerships with internal customers, peers and partners to develop strategies, goals and objectives that are consistent with the Digital Solutions and Analytics (DS&A) organization strategy. The position will be pivotal in creating and maintaining relationships with the US-based stakeholders and working closely with those stakeholders in planning and forecasting activities of the team as well as reporting requirements from stakeholders.
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of workgroup, project or process goals. Proactively communicates with employees, peers (e.g., fellow first-level managers) and customers. Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions. Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations.
  • Forecasts resource needs and makes hiring decisions. Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Ensures employees are working effectively with all development teams. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Makes compensation recommendations in regards to hiring salaries and salary review actions. Recognizes contributions of individuals and teams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects or processes. Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements. Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes.
  • This position will also provide periodic updates to senior management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
  • This position will potentially represent Boeing in interactions with senior leaders from Indian Industry, academia, Indian Government organizations, and Boeing’s partners in worldwide.
  • This position will support initiatives of Boeing India Engineering and Technology organization related to employee development, customer engagement, strategic relations, Government interactions, etc.
  • This position will require some travel within India and internationally

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required as a BASIC QUALIFICATION
  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
  • General knowledge of industry, military and government specifications, handbooks and standards
  • General knowledge of the responsibilities and tasks performed by various Operations departments/subject areas (e.g., Fabrication, Assembly, Tooling, NC Programming, Quality, Product Review, Manufacturing Engineering). General knowledge of the interactions between departments/subject areas and how their products/processes affect one another and impact non-operations processes (e.g., Engineering, Business, Logistics).
  • Familiarity with aerospace industry, military and government specifications, handbooks and standards.
  • Knowledge of design, modification, and disposition of manufacturing tools to support the build of production parts.
  • Some experience with production tool strings, assembly instructions, tool order creation, tool liaison, and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (GD&T)
  • Candidate should be conversant with Assembly Processes, Customer Supplier Knowledge, Design / Produce Processes, Engineering Process Improvement Method, Manufacturing Methods, Product Structure, Operational Analysis.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams within Boeing and external partners.
  • Develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, collaborators, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and complete projects.
  • Proactively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work.
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with team members across different cultures and time-zones
  • Develop and maintain relationships / partnerships with customers, team members, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and complete projects.
  • Demonstrate strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools to prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, proposals, and Statements of Work.
  • Must have experience leading teams and have the ability to mentor and teach juniors and partners to accomplish project and departmental goals and objectives.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience ) :

  • Experience in Compute, Storage, Network and Cloud technologies
  • Experience in AI/ML based operations
  • Experience in Cloud based product development, monitoring and support operations
  • Experience providing customer support for business critical applications.
  • Must have worked in product development environment with a strong Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps culture
  • Ability to understand and communicate with technical experts over a wide range of technical topics.
  • Strong root cause analysis skills – relentless drive for operational efficiency, excellence and creating a learning organization
  • Ability to inspire and build a cohesive team with team members working across multiple shifts
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational challenges.
  • Teamwork is important in this position; individual must have strong teambuilding skills. Must have demonstrated ability to accomplish results through direct reports, colleagues in other parts of Boeing, and partners, even when they are not direct reports. Ability to work well on virtual teams across multiple time-zones.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees, skills and abilities required by subordinate employees to accomplish organizational responsibilities.
  • Must be results-driven and have a strong bottom-line orientation.
  • Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside.
  • Communication – strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare comprehensive reports, proposals, Statements of Work, and connect technology to business considerations (e.g., ROI). Candidate must be fluent in English, ability to clearly communicate across global teams and stakeholders, and have expertise in using MS Office tools.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 Plus years' related work experience or Master’s Degree with 12+ years of experience with an equivalent combination of education and experience
