Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Riveting Machine Operator Special to join our Joint and Installation team in Auburn, Washington.

Join our skilled team as a Riveting Machine Operator Special, where you will independently load, position, and index various structures and assemblies, utilizing advanced riveting techniques. Your ability to interpret blueprints and specifications will guide you in selecting and adjusting the appropriate tools for each job, while your attention to detail will ensure that all parts receive the necessary surface protection. You will conduct thorough inspections of your work, running test coupons to verify accuracy before proceeding with production. Your proactive approach to troubleshooting and maintaining safety standards will contribute to a secure and efficient work environment. Position Responsibilities

  • Load, position, and index structures and assemblies for riveting assignments.

  • Use powered and non-powered hand tools, as well as precision measuring tools such as micrometers and gauges.

  • Perform mechanical work necessary to facilitate the completion of riveting tasks.

  • Ensure that parts receive the required surface protection before assembly.

  • Accomplish riveting pickup and rework in designated work areas.

  • Interpret blueprints, documents, and specifications to guide work processes.

  • Obtain appropriate drawings, Boeing (BAC) specifications, and other documents using online systems.

  • Locate and verify the correct part numbers and quantities of kitted or hand-picked detail parts against work orders and BOM.

  • Prepare for job setup by reviewing work orders, engineering drawings, and machine operation instructions.

  • Select, install, and adjust tools required for each setup, including drills, countersinks, and rivet stock.

  • Run test coupons to check hole and fastener installation accuracy before production runs.

  • Monitor machine settings and adjust as necessary to correct drilling or countersinking issues.

  • Check work after each operation to ensure assemblies meet specifications and are free from defects.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, and communicate with supervisors and other personnel regarding job-related issues.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience operating CNC machines (i.e. CNC rivet machine, CNC milling machine).

  • 1+ years of experience with sheet metal assemblies, drilling, countersinking, riveting, and fastener installation.

  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel.

  • Ability to carry up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds.

  • Ability to use and operate low impact vibratory tools (buffer).

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Summary pay range: $27.00 - $52.78
