Boeing Brazil is seeking a Flight Deck Crew Operations and Human Factors Manager, reporting to the Airplane Systems Senior Manager working out of the Sao Jose Dos Campos office. The Flight Deck Crew Operations and Human Factors Manager will join the team of experts in flight operations, with unique knowledge of how flight crews operate our airplanes and what their needs, tasks, and constraints are. In Flight Deck, we define the look and feel of the interface for the pilots. You will be responsible for leading the team that designs the flight decks of the Boeing commercial aircraft from conception through entry into service and supports the design throughout its service life.

The position includes responsibility for developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures, setting operational goals for the team, and acquiring financial and technical resources. This role includes mentoring, developing, and motivating direct reports. The ability to develop and maintain positive and healthy relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports is a key attribute to being successful in this role.

The successful Flight Deck manager has a passion for aviation and enjoys working with a team of pilots, engineers, Human Factors specialists, and customers who share that same passion. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse engineering team to establish a consensus on complex technical issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of engineers in the design, development, validation, verification, integration and certification of Flight Deck Systems.
  • Be responsible for overall planning, execution, and success of complex projects.
  • Maintain resource and skill forecasts to meet project and daily operating requirements.
  • Continuously develop and improve the Flight Deck and Human Factors Functions.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical tasks in the areas of the BCA (Boeing Commercial Airplanes) Airplane Systems engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.
  • Coordinates engagement with BCA engineering peers.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, including budget and staffing.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Provides oversight and approval of approaches to compliance with regulatory requirements and certification processes.
  • Leads and fosters process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains a culture of seeking to understand, courage to speak up, active listening and servant leadership to manage, develop, and motivate employees.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil 
  • Must have a degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related degree in Engineering
  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA).
  • Experience in management or leadership role
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language 
  • Must have the ability to travel domestically or internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • In depth systems engineering experience (Requirements, V&V, interfaces management, lifecycle management etc)
  • Aircraft certification experience (airworthiness requirements, ARP 4754 processes etc)
  • Human factors experience (manufacturing, development or research environment)
  • Flight operations experience
  • Pilot certification

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
