Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is looking for a Chinook Lead Continuing Airworthiness Management (LCAM) Engineer to provide Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publication (MRP) compliant support to the Chinook Military Continuing Airworthiness Manager Organisation (Mil CAMO). The LCAM role is primarily based at RAF Odiham, with the undertaking of Continuing Airworthiness Management Support Service (CAMSS) activities in general and specific to those air systems allotted to BDUK at RAF Odiham and Middle Wallop Flying Station undertaking maintenance, modification and development flight test activity

Position Overview:

As part of the delivery of the UK MOD Chinook Through Life Customer Support (TLCS) contract and associated tasks the Chinook LCAM will provide Military Aviation Authority (MAA) Regulatory Publication (MRP) compliant support to the Chinook Military Continuing Airworthiness Manager (Mil CAM).  The Chinook LCAM will provide direct assistance to the Chinook Deputy Continuing Airworthiness Manager (DCAM) and Chinook Military Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (Mil CAMO) with the undertaking of CAM activities in general and specific to those air systems allotted to BDUK at RAF Odiham and Middle Wallop Flying Station undertaking maintenance, modification and development flight test activity.

Occasional UK travel is expected.

Responsibilities:

  • Being the point of contact for the Chinook DCAM on a day to day basis, attending all relevant Chinook Mil CAMO, Customer and Program meetings for the TLCS Contract and associated tasks.

  • Providing feedback to the Chinook Product Support Manager, BDUK LCAM and Chinook TLCS Contract Program Management for Customer and TLCS CAMSS satisfaction and regulatory compliance.

  • Technical leadership for the Chinook CAMSS team based at RAF Odiham and Middle Wallop Flying Station acting as representative of the BDUK Continuing Airworthiness Manager.

  • Acting as the BDUK focal for requests for information by the Chinook Mil CAM.

  • Coordinating inputs to and outputs from other BDUK functions and capabilities that support the execution of the Chinook Mil CAM’s responsibilities.

  • Monitoring any planned or short term changes in Customer requirements and the use of the Chinook fleet to ensure that the CAMSS sustains delivery of continuing airworthiness.

  • Leading the development and maintenance of the Interface Control Documents with the Chinook Mil CAM, Boeing Accountable Manager (Military Flying), Boeing MRP Part 21J Design Organisation and Boeing-contracted MRP Part 145 AMOs.

  • Leading the development and improvement of BDUK Chinook CAMSS continuing airworthiness processes.

  • Conducting continual analysis of Chinook CAMSS tasks, resources and training requirements while ensuring the assignment of responsibilities to Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) individuals and assuring their competence.

  • Guide the development of CAM metrics and appropriate dashboard to assist day to day management, performance monitoring and drive continuous improvement opportunities for the CAMSS as they emerge.

  • Support the Customer’s MAA Audits, ensuring the Chinook CAMSS team remain MRP compliant and have a positive contribution to the Chinook Mil CAM’s approvals.

  • Ensure the correct and proper use of the BDUK Safety Management System.

  • Ensure the correct and proper use of the BDUK Quality Management System, supporting internal and external Quality Assurance Audits and associated Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and corrective action plans.


Required Qualifications (Experience/Education/Skills):

  • Degree qualified in an aviation based engineering subject or proven aviation engineering or operational experience.

  • Experience in the application of MAA Regulations and UK MoD airworthiness policies, processes and culture in an aircraft operations environment.

  • A knowledge of MRP Part M requirements & procedures.

  • A knowledge of MRP Part 145 requirements & procedures.

  • An understanding of Aviation Duty Holder and Accountable Manager (Military Flying) requirements and procedures.

  • Proven experience in technical leadership or supervisory roles.

  • Strong communication skills, technical competency, and skills with logistics information and maintenance management tools.

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively on the planning of work, and develop/use meaningful metrics to evaluate compliance status and provide performance visibility.

  • Able to effectively execute opportunities to improve strategies, processes and project plans. Assist the removal of obstacles by identifying where and what help is needed and coordinating with the appropriate leaders and team members.

PreferredQualifications (Experience/Education/Skills):

  • Previous industry or military service continuing airworthiness engineering experience.

  • Able to demonstrate experience in the application of air safety standards & safe operating practices.

  • knowledge of quality management systems including AS9100.

  • Experience in the application of UK MAA MRP, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), European Defence Agency (EDA) or Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and other international standards for continuing airworthiness.

  • Specific CH-47 Chinook air system experience and product knowledge.
