Overview:

The Boeing Global Enterprise Sustainability team is seeking a RegionalSustainability Lead to develop and execute sustainability initiatives, policies, and partnerships across the global lessor community, Ireland and the Nordics. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in aviation sustainability, policy advocacy, programme delivery and the technical value chain of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As the regional leader in sustainability, the candidate will advance Boeing’s strategy, support regional customer sustainability efforts, and cultivate business development partnerships to scale the sustainability ecosystem for both customers and the broader aviation industry. The candidate will be a member of the Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES) Team and will report to the Regional Director of Sustainability for Europe, Middle East, Türkiye, Africa and Central Asia.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Global Lessors, Ireland and Nordics sustainability strategies, ensuring alignment with Boeing's overall sustainability goals.
  • Foster and own relationships with key stakeholders, including lessors, airlines, government agencies, industry partners, and NGOs, to advance Boeing's sustainability agenda in the region.
  • Develop sustainability policy strategies to advocate for measures with Boeing Global (BG), that supports the acceleration and scaling of critical technologies such as SAF, carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies, and book-and-claim mechanisms, working across the entire value chain, including with financiers, Governments, technology providers and offtakers.
  • Programme manage and execute existing regional sustainability partnership programmes covering SAF, defence and academia as well as developing a pipeline of executable future projects.
  • Develop strategic marketing and messaging efforts as well as undertaking external engagement to promote sustainability initiatives, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholder expectations.
  • Coordinate and support cross-functional sustainability objectives, collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Communications, BCA, BDS, BGS, Boeing Global (BG), Enterprise Technology (ET&T), Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T), and Global Enterprise Sustainability (GES).

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A proactive approach to independently advancing initiatives while effectively engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and relevant technologies.
  • A collaborative attitude and excellent communication skills to balance multiple stakeholder requirements, resolve contentious issues, and develop opportunities.
  • A global perspective, with strong international acumen and experience working with diverse teams and understanding various viewpoints.
  • Broad knowledge of global and European environmental and sustainability issues, including the policy and regulatory environment affecting aviation, as well as current and future carbon emissions incentive mechanisms or mandates impacting the commercial aviation industry.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to create, deliver, and share persuasive presentations representing Boeing to internal and external stakeholders.

​Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Several years of experience in environmental studies, public policy, business development, or sustainability
  • Proven ability to deliver advocacy
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver a portfolio of projects with multiple partners
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency in English with strong writing and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an environmental technical field, public policy, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Very experienced in sustainability, policy advocacy, partnership development, strategy or sales, preferably within the aviation sector
  • Experience advocating, shaping, and crafting policy or legislation that can support the commercial aviation industry’s commitment to becoming carbon net-zero by 2050
  • Strong understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and best practices

Work Authorisation:

This requisition is for a locally hired position. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the EU or UK. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.

Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll. This position does not have relocation approval.
