The opportunity

BDA's QSMS Senior Leader will manage and advance safety and quality standards within BDA and actively engage stakeholders to promote and highlight our commitment to delivering safe and quality products and services.

The ideal person for this role offers relevant experience, a passion for Quality and Product and Services Safety, combined with integrated systems thinking, to evolve BDA's Quality Management System (QMS) and Safety Management Systems (SMS), within both sustainment services and production. As well as ongoing leadership of quality and safety, the successful candidate will be responsible for the integration of BDA's QMS and SMS, working closely with key stakeholders to establish a single system (QSMS).

This is senior organisational role suitable for an experienced leader that can exercise a pragmatic approach to effectively navigate a complex organization operating in a highly technical, innovative, and regulated environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Operations Integration, the role is ideally based in Brisbane; however, alternative locations may be considered for suitable candidates.

Accountabilities of the role include:

  • Ability to pragmatically interpret business requirements and apply legislation, regulations, policies and procedures in a complex operating environment across both sustainment services and production to enhance quality standards
  • Lead development of BDA's integrated QSMS and ensure it is fit-for-purpose and meets the requirements of stakeholders and relevant standards, ensuring they are responsive to changes in legislation and the needs of the business.
  • Promote the reporting culture and general awareness of QSMS throughout BDA and lead by example through your commitment to safety and quality as organisational priorities.
  • Lead and empower a team of safety and quality specialists to enable and support in driving excellence by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, open communication, and collaboration.
  • Translate and communicate complex concepts to stakeholder groups, including updates to BDA's senior leadership team on quality and safety matters, trends, and analysis leadership, so that the organisation understands what matters.

To be successful, you will possess some/all the following:

  • 5+ years in a leadership role within Quality and/or Safety within a commercial and/or defence aviation organizations.
  • Demonstrable experience in continuous improvement and/or project management.
  • Lead with initiative and exercise critical systems thinking to deliver integrated solutions to complex problems.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and manage positive, effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain a Defence Security clearance with Australian Government Security Vetting Agency and be cleared for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
