Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Flight Simulation Labs in Berkeley, MO.

The Flight Simulation Labs organization has expertise supporting marketing, design, development, integration, test and training objectives for Boeing military aircraft. As a project engineer, you will provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of simulation environments for such programs as T-7, F-15, F-18, and MQ-25. The Project Engineer will lead the project execution for the full product design life cycle including, but not limited to, proposal development, estimates, scheduling, requirements, design, acceptance test procedures and associated engineering maintenance support.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with various customers and teams to lead project execution in the design, procurement, building, integration, and testing of Flight Simulators, Trainers, Manned Flight Hardware Simulators, Avionic Test Benches and Facility Infrastructure

  • Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, engaging with multiple teams and being responsive to agile requirements and critical path customer need dates

  • Direct proposal development and leads project execution by identifying activities, resources and events required to complete the work statement

  • Provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Delegate responsibility for activities to team members and ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services

  • Produce estimates in support of EVM (earned value management) acting as a CAM (control account management)

  • Assess project performance by holding actual results accountable to baseline plan, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Identify performance metrics

  • Engage in direct and frequent interaction with internal Boeing program personnel and occasionally external Navy and USAF personnel (program management, technical teams, and fabrication technicians)

  • Drive process improvements and support problem resolution

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 5% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience in project management or project scheduling

  • 5+ years of experience leading a team or a project

  • 3+ years of experience in building relationships with internal and/or external customers

  • 3+ years managing capital projects

  • Experience using analytical, collaboration, communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with CAM (cost account manager) in EVM (earned value management)

  • Experience in mechanical design and analysis

  • Experience with U.S. Navy and Air Force customers

  • 3+ years of experience in avionics, electrical, mechanical, and/or a mission systems role

  • Experience in Agile Methodologies and tools

  • Participate in every phase of a product lifecycle (e.g. requirements definition, systems design, systems development, systems integration, systems test and systems support)

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range: $114,750 - $155,250
