Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Technologist Manager- BDS Data Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, & Ingestion.  This role will be in Arlington, VA, Ridley Park, PA, Berkeley, MO, Tukwila, WA or Washington, D.C.

We are a product led analytics group, transforming the way data is sourced, structured, and used to help us scale seamlessly in face of incredible growth. We are looking for a Senior Manager who can execute the build of the BDS Data Platform, be a thought leader in how to lead a cross-functional team in delivering the right architecture, implement, manage, and scale our lakehouse for all our use-cases. BDS Data Platform will enable the “Single Source of Truth” for BDS across all divisions, programs, and functions. It will be system of innovation/engagement and help to bring in accurate decision making and leverage data as the primary asset to make decisions. You will join a growing Data Analytics, engineering & Integration team that supports the data needs for internal stakeholders, across all business functions. You will report to the Head of BDS Data Analytics and work closely with our leadership and business and IT partners.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader with proven execution to deliver an enterprise-size data platform and migration of legacy data for downstream ingestion
  • Be a leader experienced with building and managing multiple cross-functional technical teams to enable execution
  • Be a thought leader on data platforms
  • Be a Leader who can translate the business objectives to technology roadmap, validate the migration use-cases and unlock the value of data
  • Able to collaborate with various Boeing internal teams and execute the common vision of the Data Platform
  • Ability to collaborate with IT&DA and Boeing’s aftermarket business unit (BGS-G) for the last mile of BDS and BDS business stakeholders to build immediate value in Manufacturing & Supply Chain space
  • Manage and work with the development teams, SMEs across various internal Boeing groups
  • Work with executives and architects to strategize lakehouse architecture, put an execution plan /roadmap to build the best lakehouse architecture for BDS
  • Have a comprehensive view of opportunities across data sourcing, scalable workflows, data platform, automation frameworks and visualization design
  • Help evaluate new data technologies and tools
  • Establish and maintain data standards to policies to drive consistency and standardization for all data assets
  • Define the vision and strategy of data products that will be used for business use-cases
  • Build empathy for our employees, customers and stakeholders and deliver data solutions that have measurable impact on the business
  • Build data models that are flexible and extensible to account for the future needs of our high scalable products
  • Create and implement blueprints for data management processes and procedures, across the Boeing Defense and Space organization to support business objectives
  • Work with software developers, data engineers, data scientists, and technical leads to convert data models into actionable execution plans, to drive execution for key initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with our internal team and business partners

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role – overseeing strategic projects, people management, supervision/team leadership role
  • 5+ years of experience building and driving enterprise level data architecture across sophisticated platforms in the cloud - Azure, AWS or GCP
  • Experience migrating data to the cloud

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • A technical Bachelors, master’s degree, or PhD in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, bioinformatics, information systems, economics, and related fields
  • 5+ years of demonstrated project leadership experience, building, and managing project plans and teams
  • 5+ years of experience do you have in large-scale data management architecture, application development and/or implementation
  • Software Development background
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience developing data pipelines on-prem and cloud
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders to discuss and present technical and project related information
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms, technologies, frameworks, models, and ensembles
  • Experience working with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and/or U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other types of sensitive data
  • Experience in Classical and Deep Learning and methods, including Neural Networks and Neural Operators

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range:

Arlington, VA, Washington, D.C, Ridley Park, PA, and Tukwila, WA: $199,750 – $270,250

Berkeley, MO: $187,000 – $253,000
