The C-17 Program in San Antonio, Texas is hiring a Senior Operations Leader for Heavy Maintenance .We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operations Leader to oversee our heavy maintenance programs. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record in managing complex programs involving multiple aircraft in flow. The ideal candidate will possess strong mentoring and coaching abilities, a deep understanding of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) processes, and a commitment to continuous improvement through lean principles and earned value management  Position is located in San Antonio, TX.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage heavy maintenance programs, ensuring timely and efficient execution of all maintenance activities.

  • Utilize creative and critical thinking to develop innovative solutions to complex operational challenges.

  • Mentor and coach leaders within the operations team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve operational issues effectively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional support teams to ensure alignment and support for maintenance operations.

  • Apply earned value management principles to monitor project performance and ensure adherence to budget and schedule.

  • Implement lean principles to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Prepare and present reports on program status, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives to senior management.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. Tomeet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.“U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in aviation industry, airline or MRO

  • 5+ years management experience

  • 5+ years of experience with Earned Value Management (Scheduling, Budgeting, Cost Analysis)

  • 5+ years of experience applying LEAN principles and/or Standard/Standardized Work development

  • 5+ years of experience leading or managing Corrective Actions or Root Cause Analysis

  • 5+ years of experience coaching, mentoring and providing developmental opportunities to enhance employee performance within their organization

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience with C-17

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across various functions.

  • Proficient in relevant software and tools for project management and operations oversight.

  • Experience in operations leadership within aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) industry.

  • Advanced knowledge of aviation regulations and compliance standards

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, Six Sigma).

  • Familiarity with aircraft maintenance tracking systems and software.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.

  • Experience in budget management and financial analysis related to maintenance operations.

  • Ability to lead change management initiatives effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Knowledge of safety management systems and practices in aviation maintenance.

Summary pay range: $153,850 – $208,150
