The Boeing Precision Engagement Systems Team is currently looking for a Tactical Seeker Engineer (Experienced, Lead or Senior) to join the team based in St. Charles, MO.

Boeing is seeking an experienced Tactical Seeker Engineer to support new product development for our Cruise Missile and Direct Attack weapon portfolio.  Our team is diverse and full of opportunities that will challenge you in new and intriguing ways, let you learn from a highly experienced foundation of team knowledge, and allow you to contribute from your unique experiences to expand the collective capability of the team.  A focus on new development and integration of Radar seeker solutions for Weapon systems guidance and navigation applications, with support for emerging production of these systems. This position will provide a balance of test and theoretical analysis and modeling/simulation opportunities. 


Position Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to a multi-level team in the development and test of seeker based solutions within the portfolio of Cruise Missiles and Direct Attack weapons for guidance and navigation applications
  • Applies both theoretical and practical knowledge of radar seeker operation, performance, modeling and test
  • Performs trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict real-world seeker behavior, impacts on system performance and to optimize design around complex requirements
  • Understands and communicates theoretical performance of radar seeker systems
  • Creates and coordinates laboratory and captive flight test plans, participates in test activities, reviews test data and documents findings
  • Develops models, simulation tools, and algorithm strategies for systems using Infrared, Laser and Radar sensors
  • Provides technical mentorship for early career engineers
  • Evaluate candidate sensor systems to increase weapon or other airborne system capabilities, decrease cost, and ensure compliance to requirements
  • Develops prototype sensor processing, fusion, tracking and guidance measurement algorithms
  • Have opportunities to travel in support of flight test activities and troubleshoot operational and delivered product service anomalies where you will see in-person the awesome capability of our Air Force, Navy, Army and international customers
  • Supports project management by coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with C/C++ language computer programming
  • Experience with developing and using modeling and simulation tools in C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience implementing radar signal processing algorithms to provide solutions for seeker guidance, object location, discrimination and tracking, and image enhancement
  • Experience integrating seeker solutions into weapon or missile platforms
  • Knowledge of advanced mathematical principles as applied to aerospace analysis and modeling.  Examples include stochastic process and decision theory, transform methods, computational geometry, numerical linear algebra, optimization, computational math, numerical analysis, and Monte Carlo analysis

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • Knowledge of estimation theory (e.g. Kalman filtering)
  • Knowledge of navigation systems and modeling/simulation of navigation systems
  • Infrared sensor and/or sensor image processing algorithm/software experience
  • Knowledge of Optical/Infrared sensor phenomenology and performance analysis
  • Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Experienced: $97,750.00 - $132,250.00

Summary pay range for Lead: $118,150.00 - $159,850.00

Summary pay range for Senior: $145,350.00 - $196,650.00
