Spectrolab, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Facilities Plant Maintenance Specialist to join our dynamic team in Sylmar, CA.

Spectrolab is the world’s leading merchant supplier of the highest efficiency multijunction solar cells for spacecraft power systems, with proven reliability drawn from 65 years of space heritage. Spectrolab’s state-of-the-art space solar cells and panels power satellites in Earth’s orbit, as well as the International Space Station. Since its founding in 1956, Spectrolab has led the way in the development of high efficiency solar cells for space missions. During the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, a Spectrolab product became the first solar panel to be placed on the moon.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, regulations and safety procedures

  • Maintains awareness of code adherence and provides status to management of any identified issues

  • Has specialized knowledge in commercial construction. Is able to interpret highly complex, detailed blueprints

  • Provides guidance to less experienced employees

  • Maintains awareness of construction schedules and deadlines and provides status to management. Responds to trouble calls and resolves a variety of complex problems

  • Is able to use a wide variety of complex test equipment

  • Has extensive knowledge in all aspects of repair and maintenance of plant and office facilities equipment

  • Is able to interpret complex and detailed schematics and diagrams

  • Provides guidance to less experienced employees

  • Provides technical expertise in the evaluation of products or equipment and makes recommendations

  • Has specialized knowledge in the use of all hand and power tools to construct, renovate and repair facilities and equipment

  • Provides guidance to less experienced employees. Provides training to peers and/or customers on the use of equipment

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience troubleshooting 480V 3 phase electrical systems

  • 5+ years’ experience with facility/plant repair and maintenance (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.)

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience working with Maintenance Repair Operations (MRO) facilities/suppliers

  • Experience inspecting air compressors, vacuum pumps, boilers, scrubbers, waste treatment equipment and other plant support equipment

  • Experience checking and recording gauge readings, oil levels, pH and ORP readings, and condition of V-belts

  • Experience working from verbal instructions, work orders, demonstrations, and blueprints

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: USD $73,100 – $98,900
