Boeing Global Services Engineering team is seeking an energetic, talented, and forward-thinking first line leader to manage the F/A-18 Integrated Support Planning & Management (ISP&M) and Customer Support Engineering (CSE) team.  This leader will ensure appropriate team staffing, facilitate high-quality integration to help meet program commitments, identify and pursue process improvements, and support sustainment, new capabilities and development upgrades to the F/A-18.  This position will report directly to the F/A-18 Sustainment Chief Engineer.

The F/A-18 ISP&M/CSE team is made up of support integration specialists and customer support engineers who are responsible for the Integrated Product Support (IPS) integration of domestic F/A-18 aircraft, Support Equipment and Model Based Sustainment & Simulation (MBSS).  Direct reports are in St. Louis, MO; San Antonio, TX and Pax River, MD. Currently, this portfolio consists of various efforts supporting F/A-18 A-F and EA-18G, Support Equipment and MBSS for various platforms.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in execution of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities for: provisioning, technical publications, product support analysis, training, supply support, obsolescence, modifications, as well as integrating with program management, supplier management, engineering and other functions for multiple programs with products in various life-cycle phases. Additionally, the candidate will have the ability to create a teaming environment across organizational boundaries, along with understanding the importance of open and honest communication.

The USN F/A-18 program consists of multiple high-visibility projects such as F/A-18 & EA-18 Sustainment, Service Life Modification Program (SLM), Growler Block 2 (GB2), and Advanced Electronic Warfare (AdvEW) that require extensive integrated logistics coordination to ensure that vital capabilities make it to the domestic F/A-18 fleet. This team also supports production and other modernization efforts in Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) to ensure the successful post-production transition of those efforts to BGS sustainment. 

This challenging position is critical to the sustainment of all domestic F/A-18 fleets, which drives long-term jet affordability and availability. This ensures that the F/A-18 remains viable and effective for decades to come, paving the way for additional modification efforts. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and integration activities for major post-production sustainment support programs
  • Manage a diverse team of 20+ integrated logistics support professionals
  • Perform all staffing, hiring, and human resource-related management functions
  • Apply knowledge of product support/logistics disciplines and Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) to direct program activities
  • Ensure customer commitments and requirements are understood, documented, communicated, and delivered on-time with first-time quality
  • Partner with program management, platform chief engineers and Systems Engineering & Integration Team (SEIT) leaders to deliver world-class sustainment support
  • Collaborate with multiple functions including but not limited to field operations, retrofit, support equipment, BDS engineering, technical publications, PSA, provisioning, training systems, and finance
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Summarize team performance via metrics and reporting tools for presentation to senior and executive leadership
  • Drive process improvements and cost reduction initiatives to increase efficiency and competitiveness
  • Support new business initiatives including competitive and sole-source proposal efforts
  • Work with employees to help them develop and achieve development milestones consistent with their career goals
  • Travels for work 10% of the time

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Department of Defense Aerospace Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) with legacy or new defense platforms such as fighter jets, bombers, cargo jets, helicopters, etc.
  • 5+ years’ written and verbal communication skills, and must be able to effectively communicate data in Senior Leadership briefings
  • 3+ years of experience collaborating cross-functionally (engineering, program management, modification team, and/or finance) and across multiple business units (BDS, BGS, Field Operations, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience with schedule and budget management (e.g., Earn Value Management customer communication, as well as understanding of execution of program planning to ensure cost, schedule and technical baseline requirements are met
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and execute process improvements
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current active secret clearance
  • Bachelor’ degree
  • Prior management or team lead experience
  • Experience with F/A-18 or EA-18G aircraft systems, operations or maintenance
  • Managerial/leadership experience in the Military or Department of Defense Aerospace business
  • Experience with military aircraft sustainment and post-production modifications
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex projects with large project teams
  • Experience supporting defense acquisition and proposal development
  • Experience in program / project management and applying Program Management Best Practices (PMBP) to include but not limited to planning, scheduling, executing, monitoring and controlling projects, programs and portfolios
  • Change management leadership experience
  • Affordability and cost reduction project(s) leadership

Summary pay range: $123,250 - $166,750
