Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Tool Grinder/Induction Heater A to join our Fabrication team in Everett, WA.

Join our innovative team as a Tool Grinder/Induction Heater A, where you will independently set up and operate advanced grinding machines, ensuring that each tool meets stringent specifications through meticulous attention to detail. Your expertise in interpreting technical drawings and specifications will guide you in selecting the appropriate grinding wheels and fixtures, while your proficiency with CNC programming will enhance our machining capabilities. You will monitor machine operations for optimal performance, perform necessary hand honing and deburring, and utilize precision measuring instruments to verify tool geometry. Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work orders and determine assignments based on schedule, priority tags, or direction from supervisors.

  • Review and acquire appropriate tool drawings, specifications, and sketches necessary for the job.

  • Ensure that grinding wheels, setup tools, and fixtures are available and free from visible defects before use.

  • Identify the required machine setup or run previously set-up jobs by reviewing work orders and related documents.

  • Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

  • Select and verify machine accessories and holding devices, ensuring they are in good condition for operation.

  • Attach machine accessories, tools, and fixtures using appropriate hand tools and lifting devices.

  • Download CNC programs to the machine controller and set machine coordinates or index points as required.

  • Run CNC programs to machine grind precision cutting tools, ensuring compliance with specifications and documents.

  • Monitor machine operations for unusual vibrations or sounds, checking gauges and displays for warnings.

  • Perform hand honing, edge preparation, and deburring as necessary to complete assigned work.

  • Use precision measuring instruments to verify cutting tool geometry and ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Laser etch, chemically etch, or vibro-engrave part numbers on cutting tools as required by documentation.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Maintain personal training certifications and consult with team leaders or supervisors when assistance is needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.

  • 1+ year of machining experience.

  • 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with Conventional and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines.

  • Experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.

  • Experience with height gauges.

  • Experience doing jobs or tasks where you had to apply math skills such as algebra, geometry and/or trigonometry.

  • Experience working with tool and cutter grinding processes, prototype development, or fabrication processes.

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $31.00 – $36.22
