Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an in-country candidate to fill the position of Japan KC-46 Lead Liaison Engineer for the Japan Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) sustainment programs. This role will be responsible for the capture and execution of these sustainment efforts.

The selected individual will work across a wide variety of organizations, functions, suppliers, and business units to include international government and industry representatives, Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF), and other Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD) organizations. This role will lead program teams located in both the USA and Boeing’s Japanese subsidiary Boeing Japan KK.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensure aircraft safety and integrity for the Japan KC-46 sustainment and support products
  • Technical oversight across Japan KC-46 platform, including BGS Engineering & Logistics capabilities and future Modernization, Modification, & Retrofit programs
  • Apply knowledge of customer processes to shape Boeing technical and support products and services
  • Chair the Engineering Review Board (ERB), independent reviews, technical risk and opportunity management reviews, program technical reviews, & proposal engineering commitment reviews
  • Lead program-level technical issue resolution activity, including root cause corrective action
  • Oversight / Coordination of Engineering efforts across BDS, BCA, BR&T, and BGS in support of Japan KC-46 contracts
  • Develop, maintain, and execute projects within an Engineering Change Roadmap for the platform
  • Coordinate with customer and partner organizations to identify and prepare for future maintenance requirements
  • Program Technical point-of-contact for BGS regulatory engineering issues and JASDF/JMOD
  • Develop strategies aligned to the development of technology and investment roadmaps to support business growth
  • Use engineering metrics to report first time quality, monitor throughput of engineering deliverables, and validate cost reduction initiatives and process improvements
  • Serve as the Program Senior Technical interface to the Customer
  • Define and establish repeatable processes to standardize work
  • Support organizational growth strategic planning

Citizenship:

Due to US Export requirements Japanese and/or US citizenship is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor, Professional, Master, Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • Basic understanding of Japan Ministry of Defense operational, sustainment and contracting processes.
  • Experience working with commercial derivative, vertical lift, or fighter aircraft platforms
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally (engineering, program management, modification team, contracts and finance)
  • 10+ years of experience working with various engineering disciplines such as structure, electrical, mechanical, and avionics systems
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • Experience defining system requirements
  • Fluent in Japanese and English with the ability to review and translate technical information in both written and verbal forms.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):

  • 10+ years of engineering leadership experience
  • 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Experience with systems engineering
  • Experience leading change management activities
  • Experience working across organizations and working with/managing suppliers and subcontractors
  • Experience interfacing directly with senior military officials and executives
  • Familiarity with Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) processes and operations

Relocation:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location site. (Tokyo, Japan)

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:
Occasional domestic (10%) and international (10%) travel may be required in support of the program and customer.

This requisition is for a locally hired position. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and not on Boeing US-based payroll.
